Class is boring anyway

“It’s okay. And.. to be honest, I think you were being yourself.. so you have nothing to be sorry for. I remember the first time I met you, when we first got here. You were snide to me then too. So I guess I could just say I’m used to it.” He shrugged and then instantly felt bad for being so frank with her. He pushed a hand through his hair and sighed.
“Sorry. That was really uncalled for.” He slid his teeth over his bottom lip. “We definitely got off on the wrong foot.” He almost wanted to ask her if she agreed, but he didn’t want to hear anything else that would keep them from getting on track with one another.
“So.. what’s on your mind? Why are you not in class?”
His apology made her smile. “You don’t have to apologize. I deserved that.” He might not feel the same way, but Meg deserved everything she got. Mostly the bad. There was actually very little in her life at the moment that was good. She could talk for hours about how the world screwed her over, but it wasn’t good to dwell on the past. There was one thing, though. Well, one person. Meg’s brother had recently decided that she deserved to be as much of a part of her niece’s life as was possible from so far away. So Meg got to see pictures of her niece and god daughter, Adelayd. She was emailed a few pictures, and was planning on calling her as soon as they got back to land. That was really what had put her in such an odd mood; the conflict between the side of her that wanted to be good for Addy and the rest of her personality.
“I’m really hung over,” she explained. It probably wasn’t a good reason to be skipping class, but it was enough for her. If she had to deal with everyone else in her classes, along with the inevitable yelling from her teacher, she would end up in a lot more trouble than she would if she got caught for skipping. “What about you?”
Tootes glanced at her as she admitted that she was hung over. She certainly didn’t look it. No, in fact, she was quite pretty. Her hair was curled but nice, and her eyelashes were long and her lips were quite kissable. Did I just say her lips were kissable? Oi. Tootles slid a hand through his hair and shrugged, letting out a deep sigh.
“Well, I just decided that.. fuck it. I don’t want or feel like going to class today. So I didn’t. Probably not the best of all reasons but.. why not?” He felt a little proud of himself for being so rebellious. It had been a long while since he had done something like that—with no second thought to Rachel.
“And I just keep thinking about how much this place sucks, and there aren’t any people to be friends with or make out with.. nothing. Nada.” He shrugged again.
“Just throw me overboard.”
